About

The department of Physics was incepted in the year 1969 with launched the Bachelor of Science (Physics) program, sanctioned substantial strength under affiliated with the Panjab University. B.Sc(Non-Medical) course started in the department to provide higher education for rural students. There are successfully completed outcome students who are well attained at both research and administrative level from this department.

 

DEPARTMENT LABORATORY AND LIBRARY


Ø  The department is comprised of a laboratory to do general experiments as well as electronic experiments for both major and allied students. In addition, optics       
     laboratories exist for both major and allied students.

Ø  The department having good collection of academic books for UG  students in the library.

Ø  The department has a computer facility with an internet connection for the use of teachers and students

 

OBJECTIVE OF THE DEPARTMENT


The Aim of the Department is to encourage discipline, sincerity, hard work, quality, research and social responsibility of the students. The goal of the Physics major is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the Physical principles of the universe, to help them to develop critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills, to empower them to think creatively and critically about scientific problems and experiments, and to provide training for students planning careers in Physics and in the Physical sciences broadly defined.

 

ACTIVITIES


Ø  During the academic year, faculty attends the Faculty Development program, a conference, seminar, and workshop.

Ø  Every year on National Science Day and Department Association function, the Physics Department celebrates. 

Ø  Students for attending sports and NSS camps, the opportunity is given to do practical’s in the afternoon time.

 Ø YSA(Young Scientist Association/ Society) Established under science department to enhance the interest in practical activities.

 

 

FUTURE PLAN


Ø  Separate labs for general and electronics experiments and research programmes.

 Ø The department should have at least one smart classroom.

Ø  Certificate courses and coaching classes.

Ø  At least one national or international conference every year.

Ø  Promotion of web-based learning.

Ø  Each staff member must publish at least two articles in reputable international journals each year.

Ø  Establish a strong alumni database.
