To cope up with the modern advanced technological  advancements , Department of  computer science  was set up at Govt. College  Karamsar, Rara Sahib, Ludhiana. Computer  Science  department  focuses on the development  of the students  along with practical  knowledge  provided to all pupils. Department  provides excellent  teaching learning process, understanding  theneeds of all the students.  The department  offers a wide range of opportunities and programs of study at undergraduate level. Computer  department has grown exponentially  on all fronts such as infrastructure.  There is well equipped  computer  laboratory  for practical  purposes.

Objectives of the Computer science  department:-

* To provide knowledge  related to computer  subject  and languages like Java, C ,C++ ,PHP and so on.

* To develop  understanding  of how computing technology  presents new ways to address problems.

* To use computational thinking to analyse problems and evaluate solutions.

* To develop skill in the use of network, by organising workshops and seminars

* To evaluate the knowledge of students through quiz.

* To motivate students for further  studies Also, a book bank is maintained  by computer science Dept. and needy students  are provided with books and notes.

Computer  Society

The Computer science  department  has also set up  the Computer  Society  to motivate students  for  learning skills for future endeavors Society is the source  of encouragement  for the students  to show their talent and skills in various  activities.

Book bank

The book bank has been established  in order to inculcate reading  skills  in the students  and helping students  who need assistance  and belong to economically weaker sections of society . So that students  can perform  in a  better way.
