Introduction

Economics is an important branch of social science, which deals with the behavior of human beings in a relation to economic activities.
 Having more practical applicability, it is called," queen of social sciences".
Economics is the study of scarcity. Its implications  for the use of resources, production of goods and services, Growth of production and welfare over time and a great variety of other complex issues of vital concern to society.

 About department 

         Economics department is established in 1969 in Government College Karamsar. To make the teaching as well as learning skills more effective, various teaching methods like face to face interaction between students and teachers, regular class test, Quiz Contests, Seminars, Problem solving etc are adopted. Students are encouraged to take part in extra- curricular activities also.

 Book bank

 The department has its own Book bank which provides books to the poor, needy and meritorious students at free of cost as per their requirements.

Scope of economics after Graduation

The career scope in economics is wide with a range of career opportunities in various sectors. Economics graduates are hired by public and private banks and other commercial companies. They can also pursue professional courses such as Chartered Accountancy (CA ),Company Secretary ,Cost and Management Accounting (CMA),Charted Financial Analyst (CFA ),Bachelor of laws( LLB ),Teaching Profession etc after studying economics.
